Asynergistic Regression Based on Maximized Rank Correlation

چکیده
The property of synergy and its detection are discussed. A response surface is said to possess synergy if it is monotone in each argument and its level curves are convex. Detecting this property is particularly useful in the study of combination drug therapies where the goal is enhanced response or diminished side effect. One way to detect synergy is to fit a surface with linear level curves under the assumption of asynergy and observe the residuals. We explore an algorithm to accomplish this asynergistic regression via a reduction in dimensionality and connections to semiparametric monotonic linear index models. We see that the asynergistic model is a confounded version of the monotonic linear index model where the

Correlation-based multidimensional scaling is proposed for reconstructing pairwise dissimilarity or score relationships in a Euclidean space. Pearson correlation between pairs of objects in source and target space can be directly maximized by gradient methods, while gradient optimization of Spearman rank correlation profits from a numerically soft formulation introduced in this work. Scale and ...
متن کاملIllustration of sampling-based methods for uncertainty and sensitivity analysis.
A sequence of linear, monotonic, and nonmonotonic test problems is used to illustrate sampling-based uncertainty and sensitivity analysis procedures. Uncertainty results obtained with replicated random and Latin hypercube samples are compared, with the Latin hypercube samples tending to produce more stable results than the random samples. Sensitivity results obtained with the following procedur...
متن کاملFinite-Sample Diagnostics for Multivariate Regressions with Applications to Linear Asset Pricing Models
In this paper, we propose several finite-sample specification tests for multivariate linear regressions (MLR) with applications to asset pricing models. We focus on departures from the assumption of i.i.d. errors assumption, at univariate and multivariate levels, with Gaussian and non-Gaussian (including Student t) errors. The univariate tests studied extend existing exact procedures by allowin...
متن کاملSurvey of sampling-based methods for uncertainty and sensitivity analysis
Sampling-based methods for uncertainty and sensitivity analysis are reviewed. The following topics are considered: (i) definition of probability distributions to characterize epistemic uncertainty in analysis inputs, (ii) generation of samples from uncertain analysis inputs, (iii) propagation of sampled inputs through an analysis, (iv) presentation of uncertainty analysis results, and (v) deter...
متن کاملA Reduced Rank Regression Approach to Coincident and Leading Indexes Building a Reduced Rank Regression Approach to Coincident and Leading Indexes Building
This paper proposes a reduced rank regression framework for constructing coincident and leading indexes. Based on a formal definition that requires that the first differences of the leading index are the best linear predictor of the first differences of the coincident index, it is shown that the notion of polynomial serial correlation common features can be used to build these composite variabl...
